BACKGROUND

Information: A dance.

Baldûzkinata is a horo that is sometimes called "Batjuvata baldûzka" (My brother's sister-in-law), "Baldûzka" (sister-in-law), or Kukuvička. It is a mixer, danced by men and women on holidays, weddings and other happy occasions.

Pronunciation: bal-DUHZ-kih-nah_TAH

Location: The presented variation is from the village of Raykova Mogila. It is also danced in many villages in the open but primarily in the Svilengrad region, in the villages: Dervishka Mogila, Levka, Mustrak, Raykova Mogila, etc.

Region: Bulgaria

Meter: 2/4

Formation: Men hands-hold – na lesa za poyas. Women hands-hold – by hands, with arms folded in the elbows. Danced in a semi-circle, as people move right and leftward.

Steps:

Drobinka – "partial or fraction" (small step).
Nabivane – "stamp" (hit hard).
Pribežka – "rush" (small run).
Pričukvane – "knocking on" (light stamp).
Svivka – "curl" (bend, as in bending the knee).
Tropoli – "tapping" (three quick steps next to each other).

In some of the villages the movement Tropoli is substituted with Nabivane.


BARS ACTION

1.   Walk with coming back – Initial position of the feet – 6th position.
1 Step with the R to the right onto 2nd position.
2 Step with the L next to the R.
3-4 The movement is done to the left also, starting with the left foot.
 
2.   Done in two bars – Initial position of the feet – 6th position.
1 Step with the R to the right onto 2nd position.
2 Nabivane with the L foot heel next to the toes of the R.
3 Nabivane with the L foot sole on place.
4 Pause.
5-8 The movement is done starting with the other foot.
 
3.   Tropoli – Initial position of the feet – 6th position.
1 And "Raz" (once) – Drobinka with the R a bit to the right. Nabivane with the L with whole heel next to the R, which lifts up from the ground.
2 Step with the R, as the L leaves the ground in a low svivka.
3-4 The movement is repeated, starting with the other foot.
 
4.   Prižukvane – Initial posit of the feet – 6th position.
1 Step with the R slightly to the right. Step with the L next to the R.
2 Step with the R on place, which takes the weight of the body and slightly squats. The L leaves the ground in a low Svivka. Pause
3-4 The movement is repeated, starting with the other foot.

1-2 "Walk with Pribežka" to the right.
3-4 "Walk with Pribežka" to the right.
5-6 "Walk with coming back" to the left. The body turns facing the center of the circle.
7-8 With L, as the body twists diagonally to the left.
9-16 Repetition from 1st to 8th bars.
 
2.   Second figure – 16 bars.
1-2 Tropoli for men, and Pričukvane for the women.
3-4 As the body twists diagonally to the right.
5-6 Tropoli for the men, starting with the L, and for the women the Pričukvane starting with the L.
7-8 Starting with the L, the body twists diagonally to the left.
9-16 Repetition from 1st to 8th bar.
