Ibro Lolov started on his career as a mature accordionist at the age of sixteen under the direction of his father the well-known clarinetist Lolo Naydenov. Ibro's first recordings at Radio Sofia which began in 1952, as well as his concert tours throughout the land, showed the advent of a real musician and in the first place, a talented performer, possessing a correct view and a great attraction towards Bulgarian folk music. His great mastery of the accordion also made him very popular with audiences abroad the Soviet Union, the German Democratic Republic, Yugoslavia, the German Federal Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, etc. Wherever he plays his beloved instrument Ibro Lolov wins over new admirers for his art and the playful rhythms of his accordion.
His performances of Dobrudzhansko Horo, Shopsko Horo, etc, most of which have been recorded, his varied concert activity, as well as his frequent appearances on the TV screen, are always desired meetings with the skill of a talented performer, encounters with the melodics of Bulgarian folk music, to which Ibro has dedicated himself wholeheartedly.
We cannot, however, talk about his rightful place amidst the Bulgarian musicians if we do not mention his achievements as an original author and composer Radomirsko Horo, Trite Pûti, and his most popular composition Filipovsko Horo, with which he has demonstrated his serious creative attitude towards the Bulgarian musical folklore traditions.
At the present moment Ibro Lolov is engaged by the Bulgarska Muzika Main Musical Direction and is the leader of the Melodiya I Ritmi Folklore Group, with which he is a desired guest throughout the land.
