LINER NOTES

Stefan Georgiev is one of the most brilliant and popular performers of Bulgarian folk music. His art has been admired all over the region of Dobrudzha, and his unique style of performance has been revealing the whole beauty of the Dobrudzha music coming up to people's hearts, setting a standard for the younger instrumentalists.

His destiny of an ordinary village boy, boun in the bosom of Dobrudzha and having felt, when still very young, the magtic of art, and the fire of creation, has willed for him to devote his whole life and calling to music. The years of quest and deep penetration into Dobrudzha folk art, of hard work to master the accordion, were quick to pass. Thin came his appearances at the folk singing competitions where his skill and talent flourished. He was quickly noticed by the specialists, hence the offer to join the "Dobrudzha" ensemble in Tolbuhin.

As a soloist with the ensemble, Stefan Georgiev has taken part in a great number of concerts, he has also done recordings for the Bulgarian Radio and Television and has been a mouth-organ player in the "Dobrudzhanska Troika" ensemble. Being a brilliant performer of authentic Dobrudzha folk music, he has greatly contributed to the extension of the ensemble's repertoire and many of his musical conceptions have been realized on stage.

In the first record of his own Stefan Georgiev has included his latest recordings. Faithfully following his artistic bias, he has offered his admirers and all those who love Bulgarian folk music Dobrudzha horos. Though having been released somewhat late as compared to the develpoment of his artistic career, his record features the maturity and wisdom of his creative work, his prefect professionalism and sophistication, his strong and neverending love of folk art. It evolves as an accomplished guarantee for new artistic achievements on his part. – Valentin Kubratov
