BACKGROUND
Information: Evren Soytopcu Kıyak, teacher of Turkish dance.
Evren Soytopcu Kıyak was born in Ankara in 1975. She started dancing in elementary school in Ankara, for a school which won the first prize in a national folk dance competition. Evren then joined the national and international champion folk dance company called Hoytur as a teenager, where Ahmet Lüleci served as choreographer and dance director for many years. Evren danced in Hoytur for 10 years.
In İstanbul, between the years of 1999 and 2005, Evren danced in a professional dance company called The Sultans of the Dance that later became The Fire of Anatolia.
She has traveled around the world with several different dance projects as a dancer and soloist.
Evren has learned and worked with many known choreographers in Turkey, such as, Mustafa Erdoğan, Oktay Keresteci, Ahmet Lüleci, and Nesrin Topkapi.
In 2007, she completed her "master teacher" diploma program, which was organized by the Turkish ministry of education. Since then she has been teaching dance in schools and also private workshops in Turkey.
Evren has taught in Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Switzerland, and the United States.
