Pronunciation: SAH-kih-yahr-vehn Pohl-kah

Other name: Karelian-Finnish Polka

Region: Finland


ANECDOTE

The most famous Finnish Polkka, Säkkijärven Polkka, was found by Juho ("Porin Jussi") Söderlund who played it on accordion while touring with Viljo "Vili" Vesterinen. Vili popularized it and is often given credit for its composition.
