// Aj da idem, Jano,
aj da idem,
aj da idem, Jano,
v Gorniya Poroy, //

Let's go, Yano,
let's go
let's go, Yano
to the village Gorniya Poroy,

(Note the collapsed form of the verses that follow.)

tam ke ti kupa, što ke aresaš,
i ke ti ti kupa šam šamija,
ti da a nosiš, az da te gledam,
az da te gledam i da se radvam,
da se pukat dushmaneto –
i tvojte i mojte,
a naj-veke begovite,
begovite izmikjari.

There will I for you buy, Yana,
a Sham (Damask) kerchief,
for you to wear, Yana,
for me to view you,
that they burst, Yana,
the enemies, both mine, Yana,
and yours, but mostly, Yana,
those of the bey, the bey's agents.

(The song essentially repeats, with the substitution of nailed shoes for kerchief and the dialectic yas for az.)

aj da idem v Gorniya Poroy,
tam ke ti kupa, što ke aresaš,
i ke ti ti kupa kovani paputsi,
ti da gi nosiš, yas da ce radam,
da se pukat dušmaneto –
i tvoyte i mojte,
a naj-veke begovite,
begovite izmikjari.

There will I for you buy, Yana,
nailed shoes,
for you to wear, Yana,
for me to view you,
that they burst, Yana,
the enemies, both mine, Yana,
and yours, but mostly, Yana,
those of the bey, the bey's agents.

As sung by Petrich chitalishte Petrichankite, Ivan Apostolov, director, as part of the medley "Na Megdana" (at the village square).

Ay da idem, Jano, aj da idem,
aj da idem, Jano, Gorniya Poroy. //

Tam ke ti kupam, Jano, tam ke ti kupam,
tam ke ti kupam, Jano, šam-šamiya. //

Ti da ya nosish, Jano, ti da ya nosiš,
ti da ya nosiš, Jano, jaz da te gledam. //

Da se pukat, Yano, da se pukat,
da se pukat, Yano, dušmanite. //

As sung by Tatiana Sarbinska:

Ay da idem Yano, ay da idem
Ay da idem Yano, v Gorniya Poroy. //

Tam ke ti kupa Yano, tam ke ti kupa
Tam ke ti kupa Yano, Sham shamiya
sham shamiya Yano, anteriya (coat)

Ti da ya nosish Yano, ti da ya nosish
Ti da ya nosish Yano, yaz da te gledam. //

Da se pukat Yano, da se pukat
Da se pukat Yano, dushmaneto, //

I moite Yano, i moite
I moite Yano, i tvoite. //

A nay veche Yano, a nay veche
A nay veche Yano, begovite! //
