LIMERICK

A man from the town of Penzance,
Wanted to try to folk dance.
     But try as he could,
     His feet were like wood.
(But didn't look bad at first glance!)

LIMERICK

She thought about classes in hula
But didn't have enough moola.
     To pay for the dance
     She'd get an advance
On money she needed for schoola.

LIMERICK

The Whirling Dervish it's said
Is meditation with head
     Tilted to the side
     With arms open wide
And dancing until almost dead.

LIMERICK

Stumble? Make it part of the dance!
Act like you've been in a trance.
     For who knows what you
     Are going to do?
A step, skip, jump, or prance?

LIMERICK

What in the world are you doing?
It looks like you are pursuing
     A dancer it seems
     Who's buried in dreams
Of someone else he is wooing.

LIMERICK

The folk dance closes at ten.
The women outnumber the men.
     But that's quite alright
     'Cause here comes the night.
Two-sexers do Varsovienne.

LIMERICK

The sun is coming at dawn
And I have to stifle a yawn.
     On wake-up committee
     And that's such a pity–
I ran after parties predawn.

LIMERICK

Dancing a lot less you see.
Ankles just won't let me be.
     They hurt me like hell.
     I can't really dwell
On arthritis in my knee.

LIMERICK

Folk dancing is what I do.
I break the steps down into
     One and another.
     Then put both together
So they fit so nicely anew.

LIMERICK

Statewide is a lot of fun.
We dance until the music's done.
     We hop, skip, and jump
     And kick, leap, and bump.
With ev'rything we are one.

LIMERICK

"Wanna dance and hold my hand?"
He asked of her as the band
     Knew what they would play.
     And without a delay
A Lesno was what was planned.
