BACKGROUND
Information: Iwao Tamaoki, teacher of Japanese dance.
Iwao Tamaoki began learning Japanese folk dance when he was 16 years old. He has been teaching for over thirty years in Japan, and has taught in Germany, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and the United States.
Currently, Tamaoki is the Director of the Japanese Folk Dance Division in the Japan Folk Dance Association, Director of the Gifu Folk Dance League, and Chairman of the Tajimi Folk Dance Club.
Tamaoki has taught at the Stockton Folk Dance Camp.
Dances Iwao Tamaoki's has taught include Asadoya Yunta, Charachan Odori, Choina Bushi, Gengenbarabara, Goshu Ondo, Gujo Odori Harukoma, Gujo Odori Kawasaki, Hanagasa Ondo, Hashima Amagoi Odori, Haisai Ojisan, Ii Yu dana!, Jindai, Kawachi Ondo, Kinkei Odori, Koshuu bon Odori, Kuninaga Matsuri, Kuroishi Jongara Bushi, Neo Odori (Dondoitsu), Sado Okesa, Shan Shan Umadouchu, Tajimi Bayashi, Tajimi ko Uta, Tsugaru bon Uta, and Yatsusaka.
