Information: A magazine.
A folklore and dance magazine, published by Vyts Beliajus from May 1942 to 1944 as a mimeographed (armed) services newsletter, then as a printed publication from 1944 to Vyts' death in 1994, when it was assumed by the International Institute of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Alexander P. Durtka, Jr., Editor) for a few issues.
COMMENT
"Vyts was my first folk dance teacher at the University of Chicago, 1946 until he left Chicago. My husband, Al Spear, and I danced in several of his performing groups, and we knew him well. Prior to WWII, Al used to dance in the Lithuanian Youth Society group, and Vyts corresponded with him and others in the service. That correspondence became 'Viltis'. Ron Houston's quarterly publication Report to Members is called by many the spiritual heir to Viltis.
