BACKGROUND
Information: This rhythm (7/8 or 7/16: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6-7) seems to occur in countries surrounding the Black Sea, although it occurs most frequently in Bulgaria.
Do not confuse this 7/8 rhythm (q-q-S), accented as 1-2, 1-2, 1-2,3, with the other 7/8 rhythm (S-q-q), accented 1-2-3, 1-2, 1-2.

- Rûčenica, from Bulgaria.
- Qaytarma, from Tatar Crimea.
- Ostropets, from Bessarabia/Moldavia.
- Mandilakos Horos, from Greek Thrace.
- Laz Bar, from Armenia.
- Geamparele, from Romania. The name refers to: 1. The name of a popular dance with brisk/sprightly movements; the melody to which this is danced to. 2. figuratively the call or song (melodious) of a bird.
